ISLE OF MAN – ARRAGON MOOAR
We were invited to work with the owners of this unique and extraordinary property on the Isle of Man, and alongside Sothebys International Realty & Cowley Groves estate agents in order to show the property to its full potential and attract a buyer.
Initially it was a very carefully targeted piece of team building. We located the right staging company to come up with ways of re-energising existing residential spaces, dressing them with furniture, accessories and artworks to de-personalise the space, making it sit well in the sales literature.
The next step was for us to create design concepts and work alongside a wonderful wellness company, and some extremely talented CGI designers to create rooms to aspire to in spaces we ambitiously re-purposed on the lower floor of the property, and outside of the main building.
The building is an elliptical shape, with a series of further, smaller elliptical shaped rooms around a central atrium. The decision was made to re-purpose the lower ground floor into a wellness and entertainment suite.
Throughout the house we had pared back the palette, adding a lightness of touch and making use of the wonderful ceiling shapes and lighting opportunities they afforded us in addition to maximising the natural light that floods this property.
The cardio, weights room and yoga studio stayed true to this approach with polished plaster and timber finishes, poured resin floors or wooden floors and all the equipment in neutral tones and natural finishes.
The orangery, prior to CGI treatment was full of unusual plants and citrus trees. We thought it would make the perfect space for a lap pool, sauna and plunge pools. We took materials inspiration from the local stone, and again, kept with the homogeneity of the pared back palette in the main house. We took liberties with the ceiling structure, and added a touch of artistic licence!
Continuing with our colour and materials palette, to ensure a calm and relaxing flow into the bar and cinema room, we got stuck into creating spaces we would really love to spend an evening in.
Aside from the swimming pool complex, for which we would need planning permission, and the advice of a structural engineer, we planned the other spaces to be turned into reality should a buyer wish to take the designs forward.
I personally have to give a massive thank you here to Anshul and his team from Image Foundry, who along with Erin from Koru Wellness walked alongside us every step of the way on this project. It was an unusual project for us as we didn’t know whether or not we would be building the rooms, but how wonderful to stretch our imaginations and create some beautiful spaces out of a former museum, photography studio, function rooms and store cupboards.
It just remains for me to say that I hope the new owners of this passionately created and extraordinarily engineered building love it as much as the gentleman who conceived it. His quirky yet luxurious vision was minutely executed with an attention to detail rarely seen. It is located in a stunning place with the most fabulous views. It was a privilege to work with this lovely family, on such an unusual project and with such a brilliant team.
